All four Toastmasters Clubs in commercial banks of Nepal conducted the first ever Joint Bankers Meeting on 12th June 2020. Laxmi Bank Toastmasters Club, Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Toastmasters Club, Sanima Bank Toastmasters Club and Prabhu Bank Toastmasters Club came together to conduct the historic online meeting that featured around 100 participants, that included members of different clubs as well as guests including non-toastmasters bankers working with various banks and financial institutions.
The meeting featured speakers and role-players from all four clubs. The meeting was themed ‘Bankers’ life’. The Toastmaster of the Evening shared interesting and candid opinions from the roleplayers, speakers and guests regarding their banking lives. The meeting also had a special feedback session that featured the Aces of Division A- Toastmasters Alfa M. Shakya, Asira Khanal and Priya Chapagain giving insightful feedback on the featured speeches, table topic speeches and the speech evaluations respectively. Toastmasters Alfa, Asira and Priya finished as the winners of the recently held District Finale on International Speech Contest, Table Topics Contest and Evaluation Contest for District 41, respectively.
The Corporate Toastmasters movement in Nepal commenced with the charter of Laxmi Bank Toastmasters Club in 2014, followed by Standard Chartered Bank Nepal in 2016. Sanima Bank Toastmasters Club and Prabhu Bank Toastmasters Club both were chartered in 2019. This joint meeting allowed older and newer corporate clubs to come together and build a network amongst their members to share and learn mutually. All four clubs were determined about the value they derived from the meeting and expressed their commitment to continue this camaraderie in the days to come.
