Nepal’s First Corporate Club Celebrates Double Milestone

Laxmi Bank Toastmasters Club, an in-house Toastmasters Club at Laxmi Bank Ltd., celebrated its 5th Anniversary and 100th Meeting at Royal Singi Hotel, Kathmandu on Wednesday, 20th February 2019. The club was chartered in February 2014 as the first corporate club at a Commercial Bank in Nepal. The club boasts of 44 members, all comprising of the employees of the bank. Mr. Ajaya Bikram Shah, CEO of Laxmi Bank was present in the meeting along with senior Executives of the bank, Department Heads, members of Laxmi Bank Toastmasters Club, other staff members and Toastmasters from other clubs in Nepal.

Laxmi Bank Toastmasters exhibits how a professional event can be held with fun and flair as the program started with a live musical performance by Club’s in-house band. The audience was delighted and in unison sang the ‘encore’ chant. The Toastmaster of the Evening was Anup Shrestha, Vice President Education of the club and his theme ‘Music and Personality’ was a fitting tribute to the evening. Supporting him was co-chair Toastmaster Sahishnuta Sharma, VP – Public Relations. The meeting was presided by the club President Toastmaster Avish Acharya and dignitaries including Associate Club Growth Director, District 41 Suman Shakya, DTM, Area Director Shaurab Lohani and other Club Presidents and members. A total of 125 people attended the meeting. 

The ‘milestone’ meeting showcased speakers ranging from Toastmasters Kushma K.C. and Dipesh Chalise, and guest speaker Amuda Mishra, Executive Director of Ujyalo Foundation. Founding president of the Club Toastmaster Ravi Mainali attended the meeting and took up the role of ‘Evaluator’. DTM Shakya had kind words of appreciation and support for the club at the end of a memorable evening.
